
President Ayoub meets with the AUF delegation headed by Professor Salim Khalbous
The President of the Lebanese University, Professor Fouad Ayoub, met in his office at the Central Administration on 8 December 2020, Professor Salim Khalbous, President of the Francophone University Agency (AUF), accompanied by Mr. Jean Noel Paleo, Director of AUF Regional Office in the Middle East, Ms. Aisha Mutawakkil, Policy & Public Relations Advisor, Ms. Sabine Lubert, Project Manager, and Mrs. Cynthia Raad, Assistant Director at AUF regional office in the Middle East, in the presence of Dr. Zainab Saad, General Coordinator for the International Relations Office at the Lebanese University.
Professor Ayoub briefed the delegation of the vision and strategy of the Lebanese University in terms of governance, digital education, scientific research, quality assurance and infrastructure, in addition to the joint programs with the Agency related to research support and researchers, increasing the number of scholarships for students and cooperating in supporting evaluation and accreditation projects for a number of academic programs in the university faculties, namely in the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Agronomy.
Professor Khalbous briefed President Ayoub on the project proposed by AUF entitled “Lebanon Aid Plan”, indicating that the Agency is a development office that would assist the Lebanese University in developing its role through joint action and cooperation plans.
The parties discussed ways to submit proposals to develop higher education in Lebanon, including digital higher education, which is adopted globally in light of the emerging health and economic crises. They also discussed participation in future projects that aim to improve the quality of digital higher education and its laws to meet economic and social needs and keep pace with the development of global higher education.
Professor Khalbous expressed AUF readiness to provide the necessary facilities and services to students of the Lebanese University abroad.
